Getting the Family Involved in Planning a Disney World Vacation

Getting the entire family involved in planning a Disney World vacation can build anticipation and add to the fun. Here are a few suggestions for things to do: 

1. As soon as you make the decision to take the family to Walt Disney World, go online to Disney’s website to order the free vacation planning DVD. The DVD will show you all the great things Disney World has to offer.

Included with your DVD is a brochure with park maps and information about rides and attractions to help you plan your days. Plus, you will also get a CD that will show you how to choose, plan and save information about your vacation. 

2. While you’re waiting for the DVD Planning kit to arrive, you can create your own Disney World video. 

 

 

 

 

  

   

Start by adding video clips that are provided in the Film Clip Library for the theme parks, resorts and attractions, to the timeline at the bottom. You will be asked a few questions along the way like which resort you would like to visit, when you plan to go, and who is going. 

 

  

 

 

  

Once you have added all the film clips you want, you can not only watch your video immediately, but you can email it to yourself or others.

 

 

 

  

  

 

3.   Order customized Walt Disney World Resort maps. You can order maps before your trip: let the kids choose the rides and attractions they want to visit. Your packet of maps includes gold stickers to mark attractions. The maps are large, 14 x 20, and each map is personalized with your family’s name. They are even suitable for framing.

4. Take a 3D tour of Walt Disney World Resort with Google Earth. You must first download Google Earth. Let Professor Ludwig von Drake show you how.

5. Make a family Disney movie night. One night a week choose a Disney movie that represents favorite Disney World rides and attractions like: Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan, Dumbo, Beauty and the Beast.
